New IBM Web site targets distribution

Atlanta, Ga.--Wholesale distributors have a new online resource for generating application solutions. The IBM Corp. developed the Wholesale Distribution site, www.wholesaledistribution.com, to provide distribution executives with a source for staying on top of critical issues that affect their day-to-day business."We take our role as a thought-leader for the industry very seriously, so we go far beyond just providing static information," says Pat McNabb, IBM's global segment manager for wholesale distribution. "IBM believes our responsibility is to share our vast resources with our customers so they can excel. When they succeed, we succeed."
The Web site's "Solution Modeler" feature allows a user to answer up to 400 increasingly specific questions to construct a detailed profile of his or her company. The company profile is then matched with current application offerings and the distributor is given a list of solutions appropriate to the company's needs and budget. Solutions are offered in five areas: enterprise management systems, electronic business, business intelligence, supply chain logistics, and sales force automation.
"Taking the consultative nature of the Web site even further," McNabb says, "we provide distributors with a financial modeling tool."
