Loctite to acquire Fel-Pro

Hartford, Conn.--Loctite Corp. announced in late June an agreement to acquire Fel-Pro Chemical, LLP, a subsidiary of Michigan-based Federal-Mogul Corp. At press time, both companies expected the deal to be complete sometime in the third quarter. Terms of the sale were not released.With sales in excess of $35 million annually, Fel-Pro Chemical operates from five locations: three in the United States, one in Scotland, and one in Colombia, South America. Fel-Pro Chemical is the specialty chemical subsidiary of Federal-Mogul and is a supplier of industrial MRO products and potting compounds for electronic componentry.
Loctite manufactures and markets a broad range of high-technology sealants, adhesives and coatings in nearly every country around the world. The company is headquartered in Hartford, Conn.
"This acquisition will enhance Loctite's ability to serve our customers in the electronics, industrial and MRO markets and further strengthen our distribution partnerships," said David Freeman, chairman and CEO of Loctite Corp.
"Fel-Pro is a well-run business that is highly respected in the chemical industry," said Dick Snell, chairman and CEO of Federal-Mogul Corp. "This sale represents a complementary addition to the chemical products offered by Loctite."
