New association to focus on first aid distributors

In May, leaders in the safety and first aid industry formed a new industry association, dedicated to bringing together first aid distributors nationwide.The First Aid Distributors Assn. was formed in Dallas, Tex. on May 12. Organizers hope to "improve and enhance the industry by improving the marketability of its products, enhance the professionalism of the industry through education, and promote the standardization and awareness of first aid products used in every market."
Bryan Smilges of Northwind Safety Corp. in Lewis Center, Ohio, was elected association president; Mickey Black of Respond Systems in McKenzie, Tenn., was elected vice president; and Mel Posey of Champion First Aid in Little Rock, Ark., was named secretary/treasurer. The forming of the association was spearheaded by Don Schumaker and Jim Grant of Afassco, Inc. in Carson City, Nev., and Ed Gerson of Certified Safety Manufacturing, Inc. in Kansas City, Mo....
