'98 glove conference a huge success

The 1998 Glove Industry Conference, held in Indian Wells, Calif., in June, was declared a huge success by attendees. The conference was attended by companies belonging to the National Industrial Glove Distributors Assn., the International Hand Protection Assn., and the Canadian Glove Manufacturer's Assn. Overall, more than 150 distributors, manufacturers and suppliers of industrial gloves and related products attended the meeting, according to NIGDA officials.Conference speakers included Carl Forssen of Business Resource Services, Inc., Charles Winwood, assistant commissioner of the Office of Strategic Trade of the U.S.Customs Service, and Janice Comer of the Industrial Safety Equipment Assn.
In other glove industry news, NIGDA reports that distributors saw a 3.7 percent increase in first-quarter 1998 sales as compared to figures for the same quarter of 1997. The results are part of NIGDA's Quarterly Industry Conditions Survey. The survey also indicates that distributors' three-month inventory turnover decreased from 6.2 turns in the fourth quarter of 1997, to 6.1.
