By Staff -- Industrial Distribution, 7/1/1998
Orlando, Fla.--Industrial Distribution's first annual charity golf outing raised a total of $5,000 for the Boys and Girls Club of Central Florida. The event was held on June 5, prior to the ASMMA/I.D.A. Spring Convention. Sixty golfers turned out for the shotgun start at International Golf Club.Commenting on the event at the convention's opening ceremony, I.D.A. president Jack Meizlish said "We look forward to its continued growth, and are thankful [to ID] for giving back to the communities where we hold our conventions each year." Meizlish is also president of Buckeye Industrial Supply Co.
Otis Smith, former player for the Orlando Magic of the NBA and an executive with the Boys and Girls Club, accepted the check on behalf of the charity.
Jack Keough, associate publisher/editor of ID, says the golf tournament will become an annual event held before the ASMMA/I.D.A. convention. Next year's convention will be in San Francisco, and the golf tournament will be held at a Bay-area club.
