Industrial Distribution is proud to present the Top 100 distributors of 1998. In the following pages, you'll find the biggest of the big in distribution ranked according to 1997 sales.This is ID's second annual list of the top 100 industrial distribution firms. Last year we decided to expand our annual Top 50 as a way to better serve our readers and provide a more accurate picture of the industrial distribution channel. And like the industry we serve, our survey continues to evolve. You'll notice several new facets of the study this year, including ticker symbols for publicly traded companies, and who expects to grow fastest in 1998.
As with last year's listing, we have provided summaries of the top 50 firms on the list. And as usual, we have included a profile of one of those firms. This year, we feature MSC Industrial Supply, one of the fastest-growing companies in the Top 100.
