Valuating your business
By Staff -- Industrial Distribution, 5/1/1998
In the March 98 issue there was an article on valuating a company. An IRS publication, Valuation Training Manual, was referenced along with Revenue Ruling 59-60. How can I get a hold of these documents? I have already searched the IRS Web site. Are there other documents readily available to give me specific guidelines that I can apply to valuate my business?

Dear Paul:
The IRS Valuation Training Manual is available from Commerce Clearing House, 4025 W. Peterson Ave., Chicago, IL 60646-6085. The phone number is 1-800-248-3248. I believe it can be purchased for around $50. Revenue Ruling 59-60 is a ruling by the IRS that is published in the Internal Revenue Bulletin. A copy of the ruling can be obtained from any law library. As to other materials, there are many books that have been written on the subject of business valuation. If you need further information, please feel free to contact my office at 618-997-3436.
