Applied's Robinson dies at 55

Cleveland, Ohio--John C. (Jack) Robinson, vice chairman of Applied Industrial Technologies, died on Feb. 2 after a long battle with cancer.Robinson, 55, was a 34-year company veteran who had worked his way up through the ranks, starting as a delivery driver at the company's St. Louis branch. After serving in numerous management positions, he was named president in 1992, and vice chairman in 1996. The company stated that as a result of his illness, Robinson's duties and responsibilities were re-assigned within the management structure.
Robinson served on the board of the Bearing Specialists Assn. and was also active in the Power Transmission Distributors Assn. He was a graduate of Georgia State University and was a member of the Greater Cleveland Growth Assn.'s "Leadership Cleveland" class of 1997. Robinson also served on the board of trustees and the executive committee for the Greater Cleveland chapter of the YMCA.
Robinson is survived by his wife, Louise, his daughter, Donna and his son, Michael.
