IBM, Fisher partner on electronic wares

By Staff -- Industrial Distribution, 2/1/1998

White Plains, N.Y.--IBM and Fisher Technology Group announced a cooperative agreement to market Fisher's electronic commerce products to distributors and manufacturers.

Fisher's CornerStone is browser-based software that allows users to search and retrieve product information from electronic catalogs and then place secure orders online. The two companies call the software a solution for buyers and sellers seeking to do business over the Internet or intranets.

CornerStone supports controls for direct-buying programs and may also interface with legacy systems to support so-called heavy controls when a purchase must go through a wide range of electronic approvals. The software is also capable of building and operating a complete Internet marketplace.
